I’m pleased to announce that my proposal to present at The Australian Sociological Association conference in November 2025 has been accepted.
I will be presenting my research on critical environmental justice approaches to PFAS pollution in Okinawa but also make comment on the situation for Australian aboriginals facing concerns over contamination at Wreck Bay, in New South Wales. Critical environmental justice specifically looks at the intersections of indigeneity and colonisation, among other areas, while I argue that the treadmill of destruction lies at the heart of the pollution these communities have had to face.
As I continue to write my dissertation, I expect my arguments to become more polished and I hope I can present something of interest to scholars and the broader community.
I hope you can join me at the University of Melbourne in early spring, a lovely time of the year to be in Victoria. I will post once more when I know my presentation times and I look forward to doing some reflections here after participating in the conference.
