Oct 2023 Presentation Confirmed

I’m pleased to say that I have been invited to speak at the University of Melbourne Japan Studies seminar, Inagaki Seminar for its 31st edition. I have been working in the background with these talks and am delighted to have been invited to present my research.

During my presentation, I will be talking about civil society action in the Yanbaru forest region in Okinawa’s north where contestation over the UNESCO World Heritage listing of parts of the forest have been jutted against the neighbouring US Military run, Northern Training Area. I focus particularly on the activism of Akino Miyagi but also spread my view to a number of different actors and an overall view of environmental action in the area.

The talk will take place on the 19th of October, 2023 between 12:00pm-1:00pm AEDT (Melbourne time). Please come by either in person or via Zoom if you can!
